On A Roll

Philadelphia-based Genji Sushi, which has expanded nationwide as the sushi bar featured inside Whole Foods Markets, has high standards when it comes to sustainability: Genji uses wild-catch suppliers and leaves the famously overfished bluefin tuna off its menu. But Genji’s commitment extends to other causes as well: Each month, five percent of proceeds from its “Special Roll for a Special Cause” benefits a charity, and the donation effort has netted more than $54,000 for charity thus far. In June, the roll sales benefited LGBT empowerment organization Live Out Loud; October’s “Special Roll” will benefit breast cancer patients. More information at genjiweb.com.
